Sun Bingo Take Note

August 1st, 2008 Posted in: Affiliate News

I have been a bingo affiliate for around four years now and have inevitably run in to a few problems along the way.  This includes pushy affiliate managers, programme down time and just down right aweful programmes which I would never work with again.

Now, I work with Premier affiliate network and I have to say they have made the sun bingo affiliate programme very easy to work with and profits have grown gradually every month for me, which is great! I would love to thank PAN for their hard work.  I am sure all the people promoting the sun through buy.at will feel the same.

Unfortuenetly this praise stands for nothing as the sun have made the decision to pull their affiliate programs temporarily.  This will annoy a lot of affiliates (including me) and people may think twice about promoting the sun in the future.  After all many affiliates will be out of pocket (even after compensation) and will lose all the rev share players they have built up forever.  In my opinion this is not a great way to treat your affiliates!

We had to wait a long time for the sun affiliate platform in the first place and it only lasted about eight months.  I would love to know what other affiliates think about this farce.

A shame for you and PAN and buy.at.

Did The Sun give any reasons for pulling the programme?

  2. Richard Says:

Not to me, I have had the email from buy.at and pan about the programme closure. I have heard that they will be relaunching the programme but I am not sure if that is the best way to go. It is a shame because as mentioned above PAN did a great job for me.

They’re pulling the programme as they’re moving bingo platforms - unfortunately it’s one of the downsides of white label branding.

As I understand it Tombola (who ran the bingo site) will relaunch with a new programme and The Sun, who are partnering with another well known bingo/game site, will relaunch as well.

It’s never ideal for affiliates when a brand chops/changes around - but at least it’s been announced and compensation offered (at least on Buy.at). When Gala Bingo left St Minver a couple of years back the links just stopped over night.

I agree that the compensation is a softener. And a change in software can throw up problems. But they could have kept the affiliate programs the same regardless of the software change. Then all the affiliates who have built up a bank of players would get to keep them. I suppose it is because of the divorce of tombola and the sun, neither will keep the affiliate programme!

I’m not 100% sure if the players are transferring from Tombola to the new Sun Bingo though.. it may well be Sun Bingo are starting from scratch and Tombola retain the original players - but I’m guessing.

Compensation on the Sun Bingo programme has been offered to all affiliates on all networks. Further information will be sent out once all the calculations are completed and you will be notified in person if you are a PAN affiliate as to how the calculations and compensation has been calculated.

I’d like to thank you Richard for this very flattering post, we aim to deliver high levels of service to all our partners.
If you have any questions at all please feel free to get in touch directly. Thanks!
